By now you’ve probably heard the news of actor Alec Baldwin’s engagement to yoga teacher Hilaria Thomas.
The two have been dating for a year. This will be Baldwin’s second marriage. His first was to actress Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2002.
While other reports have focused on the age difference—Baldwin just celebrated his 54th birthday while Thomas is 28—we’re more interested in Thomas’s yoga. She’s the co-owner of Yoga Vida studio in New York and, according to the studio’s website, has been teaching yoga since 2005. Thomas, born in Spain but raised in Boston and attended New York University, was at one time a competitive Latin Ballroom dancer and is trained in somatic therapies.
The paparazzi last week crashed Thomas’s class to try to get a picture of her Cartier diamond engagement ring, causing her protective fiance to take to Twitter to out the photog. We have to wonder whether all this attention will positively or negatively effect Thomas’ teaching career.
