Yoga for Dogs: How Does It Work?
Today I ran across this video, which put an end to my curiosity.
I don't know about you, but my precious puppy (Full-disclosure: I just adopted her on Saturday, and she's a baby!) would NEVER be still long enough for me to lift her over my head like that.
Have you tried it? Would you want to?

my dog hates being picked up, so he would never stand for this. I also don't really see how it benefits the dog. my dog bonds with me when we're walking, sitting together, playing, so the bonding while holding him in a pose doesn't seem like a real pull. it would be different if there were some physical benefit for the dog (my dog has arthritis). but I think my practice flows better and my dog is happier being left out of yoga.
that said, when I'm practicing, my dog has more than once come over and done down-dog next to me. he's very good at it. :)

I'm not a dog person, so I have trouble relating to this. I hope we get some positive comments so we can get an better idea why some people like this. To each his or her own.
As for me, I kept waiting for the David Letterman punch line, like when he has Paris Hilton on with her latest $100 dog dress.

I have 3 dogs and the 2 male ones don't really do any doga, but my female dog loves to do down dog or sphinx, flowing into up dog, and then throws in crocodile by lying head on paws just because she can. It fills me with such bliss just seeing her do it and I so get where up and down dog originate from ;->

Wow! That is seriously silly! Why? Some people have too much time on their hands.

Well I don't find it silly and find that my favorite yoga magazine, Doga, can help shed some light on the issue...

Not sure what the background of the lady who offers this video is but being in the canine physical rehabilitation industry I certainly have some concerns about some of her recommended dog postures. A daily ashtanga practitioner I do see many benefits of "Doga" postures as long as they are properly applied and monitored by someone knowledgeable.

I have followed a yoga dvd at home and my pomeranian loved it. He wanted to get involved with me being on the floor in any way possible so I can definitely see the attraction of some exercises that incorporates that furry pooch. Obviously, it depends on the dog whether s/he is interested in taking part, but I did use him as a (light) weight to modify some poses.

Yoga for dogs? WTF

We have a 4-year old Puggle named Tank. He is a small dog but very strong and wiggley. There's no way I'm going to get him into a yoga pose. From what I can see on the video, the owner is just using the dog as a weight or sandbag - I don't see how it benefits the dog at all other than being close to his/her owner.
