Just Plane Yoga
This video was on a local TV station in the San Francisco Bay Area. It gives a few nice tips for practicing yoga while you're traveling--particularly on an airplane. I have to admit, even though I may want to do yoga when I'm on a cramped plane or bus, I just can't imaging getting up and doing Triangle Pose in the middle of the aisle.
What do you think? Is it OK to practice yoga in an airplane aisle or does it impend on the personal space of other travelers?

It's a little awkward...but I suppose if you really care what other people think it can be a good idea. I had a friend who just randomly started doing push-ups in an airport when I was with him, and he didn't seem to care.
Another note: it's always more fun to be the person with the crazy person doing stuff. You get to observe the reactions and it's quite fun.

i was lucky enough to have a humongously spacious exit row seat on the return flight from a jamaica vacation several years ago. i was definitely doing down dogs in my row when my brother (the only other person in my row) would get up to use the restroom.
i also will do squats, forward folds and various arm stretches to get my shoulders open and warm. plane travel generally makes me feel like crap, so i go out of my way to do anything i can to stay hydrated and stretched.

I find it a good time to do triangle when I'm waiting in the airport, but I tend to read when I'm in the airplane. I can gratefully recall some triangles practiced while waiting for my luggage after a long flight.

yoga in airports is great; yoga in airplane aisles is not; yoga in an airplane seat is....interesting

it's absolutely OK to do yoga on long flights, why not? are you going to take a chance on DVT? DVT can kill you.
I fly 17 hours to India and you can bet your asana that I'm going to move around, A LOT. not necessarily triangle, down dog, etc., but definitely standing twists, forward folds, standing leg stretches, arm stretches, etc.

I think it's fun to do yoga in front of random people, just to see the looks on their faces.
I work as a cashier and I stand constantly in Tree Pose when I'm at my register or when I'm making coffees or working in the kitchen [as I'm also a barista and a cook]. I even bought slip-on Croc-style kitchen shoes so I can slip right out of one before I put my foot on my thigh :)

I am a Flight Attendant and I practice yoga on planes all the time. I even have an inflight sequence. I do practice forward bend in front of my cart in the aisle and sometimes tree pose if I am stuck behind a slow moving cart for a while ,but most of my yoga is practiced in the galleys or beside the lavs where there is enough room to move around. The best thing you can do on a long flight is get up and move around a bit. Dont worry about what people might think chances are you will never see them again.

I thought this was great from Sironasky of the YJ community. She works for British Airways and shows her and othesr practicing yoga on a plane. Maybe it's time for Yoga Air.

Who cares what others might think You'll feel good when you land in Dubai, Rio, or Tokyo. That's what counts. BTW - If you're into Yoga, you ain't really into all that personal spacegogma that the beeATxhes in 'the Valley', or some suburban mini-mall vixens freak about. But, with that in mind - don't bump the moFOs & focus on the Yoga. Go lay on the 'Priaias' & be happy you got outta Dodge w/ less achiness.

First class or coach? I'd rather bring a book, myself, and save the other stuff for when it's more appropriate. I'd rather not see a lot of things people do for attention, so I don't give them my attention.
