Do yogis look younger?
A Prevention article "Use Yoga to Stop the Clock," is getting renewed media coverage. It claims that yoga minimizes wrinkles, slows weight gain, eases pain, helps you sleep and keeps you sharp. Do you find this to be true? Do you look younger than people your age who don't do yoga?

ABSOLUTELY YES!!! Yoga does help you look younger by retarding the natural aging process and in some cases, reversing it as well. But its not just "looking" younger than your years. As a woman who was diagnoised with osteopina 2 years ago, it was recommend I take a perscription medication and weight bearing exercise such as doctor recommended walking. I tried the medication for a couple of months; it was not for me. I just started practicing more yoga and kept up with my calcium supplements. Fast forward two years and a repeated bone denisty test and my osteopina is GONE! YOGA!! It is the best weight bearing "exercise" and it also helps mind and spirit as well. There is nothing that compares to yoga.

I believe so. I am young and in my late teens, but from what i have seen in the classes that i attend are 60 year old woman who are flexible and look 40 and i have seen people come in who look old with deep wrinkles, who in 3 or 4 years look younger, just from relieved stress. I have not personally had to deal with aging yet, but i am already noticing that i have more energy than my friends and lots of people comment that i look calm, happy, and energized, even after a long day at work. Yoga works to "stop the clock" and just seeing these people who are aged and still energized and happy, when everyone else their age is confined to a cane or walker, it is an inspiration!

I agree that yoga keeps you healthier (and thus "younger") longer.
Even when I can't practice for several weeks, or sometimes months, my "mental yoga" keeps me going. I have noticed over the years that my body recovers more quickly from injury or illness. For example, I am currently dealing with a very painful lower back injury. Just about one week after the initial injury, I was already able to touch my toes. I attribute everything about my health and my youngish looks (my dentist recently told me he thought I was ten years younger based on look and energy) to yoga. That is what I tell everyone, and I believe it. To the universe, yogis are ageless : )

I feel that Yoga has most certainly helped myself and my wife age less, but I also believe that the food that we eat is also a very important factor. Living in Queensland in Australia we are certainly blessed to have heaps of yummy organic produce on our doorstep

Hey!..I totally believe that Yoga makes one look younger. All the exercises which involve stretching and flexing definitely help one look younger. I started Yoga for weight loss, I not only lost weight but also noticed subtle differences in my body, my skin definitely looked better than it did a couple of months back. My body looks better and I definitely feeel better. All said and done, Yoga is also about self awareness which comes with practicing it.
