Website under fire for selling Hindu deity underwear
Religious and political officials from India's eastern state of Orissa have written to the Indian government and the U.S. embassy seeking action against California-based cafepress.com for selling intimate apparel imprinted with Hindu deities. The protesters are seeking an apology and the cessation of sales of the offending items. Should the company stop selling the apparel?

Comments
no they should not stop selling.
A) This is a free country.
B) If you can wear a cross or neckless or tattoo or whatever with a religious figure/deity on it, why can't you wear underwear with it?

I get where they are coming from...I love kitschy clothes and I love living in the US and having so much freedom, but could we respect their tradition and take the "oms" off the undies?
Yet if we see the parts of the body that the underwear covers as holy, couldn't one argue that sacred symbols have a place there?
After all, the body was the first temple...

I do think the underware with religious symbols is a little much, and I can see their point. When was the last time we saw a crucifix on a pair of undies?
To most Cristians that would seem strange.
Hindu and Buddhist symbols have sort of become the rage since the boom of yoga in the States, But if we really participated in those religions we probably would not even think of wearing them on our clothes.
