I think this is a great thing. A quick e-mail every week should help me learn the sutras.

I signed up. The samples seemed interesting. I need to learn more about the sutras, so this is a great way to navigate it.

I've taught Patanjali's Yoga Sutras for many years myself, and I'm amazed and thrilled by the fresh perspective and deep wisdom Nischala Devi brings to these Sutras. I highly recommend her commentary to students and to other teachers.

Here is a relevant sutra for the spurious yoga movement. According to the Saiva, Hindu Guru Patanjali, what is, succiently, the practice of Yoga? Tapah svadhyayesvara pranidhanani kriya yogah. In other words, the practice of [real] Yoga is all about tapa (Hindu religious austerities) svadhyaya (self study--to connect to a Hindu MahaDeva) and Isvara Pranidhana (great devotion to Siva/Isvara). From the practice of Yoga Sadhana Pada II. Sutra 1
