NEONNAMASTE1.jpg

Feeling fluorescent? I'm loving these bright pieces with a new wave twist. Nike's 80's inspired top is made with a comfortable fabric that keeps you dry, and I love the tiny touch of day-glow green. I also adore this lava orange duffle bag, it's lightweight which is perfect for me so I don't have to worry about how much I put in it, plus it's a bargain at $39.50. Lastly, even though I haven't been on one in years, I still love these skateboard sneakers with neon accents.

I'm not usually one to walk around sporting t-shirts with logos or sayings printed on them. I'd probably make an exception for a good cause though, and what's a better cause than peace? I love the typeface and dove design on this inexpensive "All Heart & More Peace" t-shirt and it would go great with the peace graphics on this bag by the Sak. I've also found an amazing shop for cute vegan shoes, boots, and sandals. If you're in the market, check out the Lulu's website.

My September Intention: To Cultivate Tapas

September 1, 2010

tapas board NEW.jpg

Can you believe it's already September? As I put together this month's intention board, I thought about the mixture of excitement and trepidation I used to feel about heading back to school each year. Sometimes it was an intense transition to go return to long days of studying after the lazy, luxurious days of summer.

I didn't know it at the time but it required what's known in yoga as tapas -- sometimes translated as fiery discipline -- for me to get back to that place of deep concentration. But when I did, it was worth it! I learned more and I enjoyed school more.

And so, even though I'm not heading back to hit the books this year, I'm going to honor this time of year and set the intention to invoke the fiery discipline of tapas in my yoga practice and in all that I do.

What's your intention this month?
