Paul Grilley

Paul Grilley has taught yoga since 1980. His teaching has been greatly influenced by Paulie Zink and Dr. Hiroshi Moroyama, a yogi and scientist from Tokyo whose philosophy integrates the Taoist meridian and acupuncture theories of China with the yogic and tantric theories of India. Paul lives in Ashland, OR, with his wife, Suzee.

Comments

Paul's descriptions on the variations in human bones and the human body gave great insight to the reason we all have certain ansanas which are easy, and others which are challenging -- or, even impossible to achieve.

His presentation style made it fun. But, there was a serious message beneath which explained clearly that stretching and tension was only one aspect of working into yoga asanas and that compression or the reaching of the limits of bone structures may be trying to tell you when you've achieved the best your body can do. It was a helpful insight for our practices.

Having actual human bones made the presentation very real. But, seeing the variations within the group of individuals in the class was most revealing!

In some ways, being in the beginner track... it seemed a message which many instructors should hear -- but, I was very happy to have been able to get this personal attention from Paul.

Well done!

Jim

Paul knows so much about Chinese medicine. He is excellent at taking very complex information and making it easy to understand.
