Why Naked Yoga?

hst126.jpgWhat's with the naked theme? I write a blog about loving home practice, and you, some of you, write in that you love naked yoga. I write a blog about favorite poses, and you write in about naked yoga.

I write a blog about meditation or chanting or acting, for goodness sake, and some of you (is it the same people? The Naked Yoga Alliance? I don't know!) write back that you love naked yoga.

Billy Connolly, the marvelous Scottish comedian, writes that he loves an ordinary love life with his wife. A meat-and-potatoes kind of lover, he is.  He's all about comfort. It takes some self-assuredness to admit that.

I feel that way about yoga.

I love yoga in my flannel pajama bottoms. I start with two t-shirts and peel one off as I warm up. Sometimes I start in socks.

This naked thing? I don't know. It'd be like grocery shopping while naked, or bowling while naked, neither of which is ever going to happen, so don't feel you should write in about those. Besides, where I live, anyone in a canoe can see me unless I downward dog in the dark.

All right, all right! I'll try it. I'll try it in the dark (by the park, for a lark, with a shark. I'm going all Dr. Seuss in my nervousness.).

I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the conversation, I think.

please let me knwo what you think because I have been noticing a lot of talk about naked yoga and I have no has a chance to try it out...hard to do in a house that is full of people

My question from naked yoga enthusiasts: what do you do with your breasts? Mine would get in the way EVEN MORE than they do.

In fact, scratch that, lets stick to clothed yoga: how do women with big breasts do knees-chest-chin through to cobra with any kind of grace?

I'm really enjoying your blog, found you via Yogaglo. Thank you for writing so beautifully about your journey. I'm on a similar path, I think.

afterifis makes a good point. What about us gals with ample breasts? If I don't restrain mine with a good sports bra, forget about any kind of exercise. Sorry naked yoga enthusiasts, I just can't "get into that." down to my sports bra & comfy shorts is as close to naked yoga as I'm bound to get.

I love your blog!

That yoga is again a new kind of practice, initiated by some inspired practioners, or admirators !
Practicing without any clothes is as strange, as new. I tried it once at home (of course) with windows closed ;-) I felt curious to experiment new things, but was not conviced.
I think that people saying loving this are almost fantasm oriented. I don't think this practice should be serious.
Maybe people living together and practicing regulary could achieve new kind of experimentations. But even for this, I'm not sure.
